Front Garden Makeover: Mulching, Lawn, Planting, Tidy Up

Kaz contacted us to carry out some transformational work on her front yard, and we are so glad she did! We had fun getting creative to run with a complete makeover of Kaz’s front area, which she had mapped out in her head, and we were able to bring it to life for her.

Some challenges posed were the location on a busy highway, which made access and parking the trailer a little difficult. However, we managed to make it work.

The first step was to re distribute the blue metal in Kaz’s front yard. We managed to repurpose it elsewhere on her property, and removing it allowed us to start with a blank canvas to then supply and install two cubic metres of lawn fill sand. This sand is specifically designed to grow lawn well as it includes chicken manure in its mixture, and we then planted lawn seed for Kaz’s front yard to grow a nice lush, grassed area. We then supplied and distributed mulch to the garden beds around the property, and gave the area a good weeding, leaf removal and some pruning.

Additionally, we dug 5 large holes along the frontage of the property, to plant 5 cottonwood trees to create a privacy barrier from the busy highway. Some other odd tasks were carried out too, including transplanting two golden cane palms to add to the privacy barrier.

Kaz was preparing the property for sale, and was super happy with the transformation we helped her with, to hopefully maximise the price she could get for her property.

Tidy & green waste removal.

Nim had recently moved into a new home and had several large garden beds full of woodchip mulch. However, she didn't like the aesthetic this created and wanted to remove it so she had a bit more flexibility with styling her outdoor area.

What looked quite simple at first turned out to be quite a large job. Firstly, accessing the property was difficult because the driveway was very narrow, which meant it was challenging to get the trailer up. Secondly, the outdoor space was multi-level, meaning the garden beds that needed attention were at various heights and weren't easy to get to. Add some stairs and a pool and pool fence into the mix, and it was very tricky to get the mulch out. This is because we obviously use a wheelbarrow, and working our way through all these obstacles with one wasn't easy.

To get around this, we filled easy-to-carry green waste bags and carried these to the trailer. It took three trailer loads to eventually get rid of all the mulch. We asked Nim if we could recycle the mulch instead of taking it to the tip, which she was happy for us to do. We ended up giving most of it away to clients, family and friends, and sold a small amount as well.
