Pennisetum Rubrum

Pennisetum advena rubrum is a hardy perennial grass that blooms an abundance of fluffy arching maroon-pink plumes through the warmer months of the year. The flowers sit high above the burgundy toned foliage and provide a stunning colour display. Pennisetum advena rubrum is fast growing, an ideal border and can be use in garden beds as well as containers. This variety has also shown to help with erosion control on embankments. Thriving in fertile, free draining soils, in full sun to part shade positions. Once established, it is a low maintenance plant, tolerant of high temperatures, humidity, and wind as well as being able to withstand light frost Fertilise with slow release once a year in spring. Prune back every few years to encourage new growth. Pennisetum advena rubrum can grow to a height of 1metre and a width of 70 centimetres.
